Months of hard work and planning is starting to pay off. Within a week, the Iota Delta's will have their parking lot torn up for the last time and a graded, drained, and paved parking lot ready to install. The project is expected to take no more than three weeks to complete and will have a full drainage system and lined parking spots. No more stepping in water filled ruts, driving over speed "holes", or getting rocks stuck where you don't want them. Wabash Valley Asphalt (a local Terre Haute company) has been selected to undertake the project to make our new parking lot everything we ever wanted. Pictures of the project will be posted periodically, so keep checking back often to see how it progresses. After the parking lot is finished, the same company, with support from the County, will be refinishing the main drive around the grounds. Hopefully your drive in to homecoming this year will be smooth as glass!
This project would not have been possible without the support of many generous donors. It should be noted that this project was not even considered a feasible undertaking for the Housing Corporation without the 1st and most generous donor stepping up. However, it is still a massive undertaking for the Housing Corporation and any additional donations from our Alumni base will help the Housing Corporation to do more than just maintain the Grounds this year. So in closing, if you have not already done so, please consider becoming a donor (http://pi-kappa-alpha.net/donate) to support the parking lot project and to allow for additional housing improvements.
Thank you and in ppka

Re: More funding?
Rodzik,
The parking lot project is financially secure. Whether or not we have sufficient funds afterwards to take on additional capital improvements is questionable, depending on the level of Alumni donations. No pun intended, but its a question of how big of a financial hole do we want to dig this year. The parking lot will pretty much use up all annual improvement funds. From here, we can either hope stuff doesn't break and use repair budget money for improvements, go into the red for the year, or get more Alumni donations (the "win/win" scenario).
For example, I would love to upgrade all common area AC units, but its a want, not a need, and with the parking lot expense around the corner, I'm hesitant to go forward with such an expense without additional income since I can't be sure other stuff won't break or be broken.

More funding?
How much more funding is needed to make this financially secure?
